I was less interested with the Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest reveals for Transformers as some of then had already been seen previously, though there’s one item that’s very interesting but not to the point of me getting one. Robosen, a company that sells programmable robots has acquired the Transformers license from Hasbro to produce one heck of a premium collector’s item.

This is their Transformers Auto-Converting Optimus Prime figure, and as the name suggests, it can transform from vehicle to robot on it’s own. It’s kind of an anti-thesis of the original Transformers play patter but it’s really cool to see how this guy can literally transform and roll out. It’s totally inspired by Optimus Prime’s G1 design which also makes for an easier truck-to-robot conversion.

Optimus Prime stands 19 inches tall and is made from a variety of premium materials, amounting to over 5,000 components including 60 microchips and 27 servo motors to make the self-conversion possible. It also comes pre-loaded with 80 sound effects and voice overs provided by none other than Peter Cullen himself.
You can control Optimus Prime through a variety of voice-activated commands or through an app that also allows you to program custom action poses and movements. He also comes with an energy axe , Ion Blaster to further recreate those iconic battle scenes from the G1 series. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he also has LED light up optics, as well as front and tail lights in vehicle mode?

Lastly, it comes with a premium packaging that only a premium collectible like this one deserves. All of these don’t come cheap as Optimus Prime demands a $699.99 price tag. But if you only need one Optimus Prime in your collection, then this one is a very viable option, especially for a limited collector’s item like this one.
