#GunplaExpo Tokyo 2020: “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway” Gets May 2021 Release Date

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, the anime movie trilogy adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash novels was initially slated for a July 2020 release. But thanks to the pandemic, it was postponed indefinitely. But thanks again to Gunpla Expo Tokyo 2020 currently happening in Japan, we now have a new release date set for May 7, 2021 and new Gunpla reveals, but more on the latter on a separate post. Previous marketing was focused on Penelope, the main antagonist mobile suit. Now, we’re focusing on the Xi Gundam as piloted by Hathaway Noa, or as the name he goes in the story — Mafty Navue Erin. Looking at the new key visual, you will notice that the Xi Gundam design had gone through some changes when compared with the novel counterpart. We’ll take a closer look at those changes when we look into the new Gunpla reveals but for now, check out the new teaser trailer below!
