We’ve been getting a more primarily SD mecha kits, and not chibi-fied versions, recently – with the latest being those from Mashin Souzouden Wataru. But that doesn’t stop more being released, and this is where Taiwanese company Giga Garage comes in as they are making their debut model kit release with the Best Class GF-R01 Ignatius as seen from Shinki Kitoden or as they’re calling it in English, Legend of Mecha & Goddess.

The mecha in this world are referred to as Gear Frames and the Ignatius is being described as a decisive weapon. Yes, the same description you’d often see in Evangelion. While the overall proportions are definitely on the SD side, Giga Garage doesn’t skimp out on the details. If you need more context on the Ignatius, I’ve included below the move showcase video Giga Garage posted.
The video explains our pilot, or I guess the “goddess” in the title, is a member of the A.K.E., or the Agency of Kaiju Extermination. I believe their goal is to, well, exterminate kaiju. The video also shows all its special attacks to which the model kit can replicate to a considerable extent.

Despite the proportions, Ignatius has no problems replicating close combat and agile display poses. It appears to be primarily use melee combat so all joints appear to be able to move as expected.

A display stand is also included in case you want to put Ignatius in aerial poses. That said, I don’t think the kit includes similar stands to display the Skybreaker, as seen above, when launched. Speaking of weapons, each leg also has a Break Blade unit that can be deployed when used. Again, I don’t think there are display stands to prop these up, but I hope all of these are compatible with the 3mm stands other companies use.

In addition, clear red parts are also included for the manipulators to display Ignatius doing one of its special attacks. But if you’re able to get the first production run of this kit, then you will also get clear green parts for even more options.
As Giga Garage’s first entry in their Best Class line of kits, the Ignatius looks quite promising, despite not knowing anything of the fiction. The kit also stands at around 145mm, and while non-scale, it should look great among similar SD kits. Which is also the reason I got one. I’ll include the introduction video BellFine, the official Japanese distributor, uploaded below and if you want to order yours, I’ve also included an affiliate link at the bottom.
