Blind boxes from all sorts of properties are very popular these days, thanks for companies like Pop Mart and Blokees among others. For mecha collectors, Blokees is doing a good job at these though I don’t really like how they’re all SD/chibified with those weird proportions. But I do acknowledge that these have a definite appeal, but I do wish we’d get regularly proportioned mecha blind box kits.
This is where Motor Nuclear comes to the rescue as they are offering a new line up of blind box/trading kits that perfectly fit my collection, not to mention they look really good!
This their MNH-A “I’m Great Hero” set of blind box kits that are being sold in packs of six, or as individual boxes depending on your preferred source. As mentioned, these are fully featured kits with standard proportions you can display along with the other in your collection. If you collect 1/144 scale Gunpla kits, then you’re in luck because while these kits are non-scale, each stand at around 135 mm with full color separation and articulation.
Each kit contains a common internal frame runner very similar to the Advanced MS Joint runners seen on early Real Grades. It means that the knee and elbow joints are pre-assembled in the runner but being made from ABS plastic should provide more stability than the looseness people often complain with Real Grade kits using the Advanced MS Joints.
As for the actual kits, you get the six below for each purchase of a complete box:
These six are the guaranteed kits, but with all these blind boxes, there’s a chase figure or chase kit in this context.
This is Lu Bu [Star Color], which is primarily in red than the black of the standard version. The chase has a 1/200 chance of being obtained and comes with an exclusive version of the standard weapon Lu Bu comes with.
Finally, each will come with a display base with stand, and a name plate where you can put the sticker corresponding to the kit you will display on top. Each box is basically a complete package so you really are getting your money’s worth with this set.
And there you go, fully articulated, better proportioned with great color separation blind box kits. Not to mention the designs are unique. You’re able to get four entirely new molds per box of six, with two guaranteed recolors and a possibility of the chase kit for every 200 individual boxes. I am convinced this is worth its asking price, which is almost $100, for everything you receive.
The solicitations also mention this being volume 1 of this series, so expect more sets down the line.
