It’s been a week or so since the double billed release of both the Gundam IRON-BLOODED Orphans: Urdr-Hunt Special Edition compilation film and the 10th Anniversary Short Film “Wedge of Interposition.” Along the release came updated mechanical profiles for the latter, which many were curious following the initial teases of a new form for Gundam Barbatos between seasons 1 and 2 of the anime.

First is the Gundam Barbatos Adapt and thank goodness it’s not a variation of “Repair” or “Rebuild” as seen in other series. This is a field repair by Tekkadan directly coming from the Barbatos 6th Form which was damaged during the Battle of Edmonton. It is what you’d expect from a patchwork repair work as seen with these new brown armor panels, along with the exposed internal structure of both feet and the broken blade antenna.
Barbatos Adapt comes with two new swords for weapons, the Daisho and Shodo, both provided by Teiwaz for data gathering purposes. Bandai Spirits also announced a Premium Bandai exclusive HG kit of this design, details yet to be reveled.

The other new mobile suit appearing in the short is the Eber-G and it’s basically a Graze with new armor parts that sort-of-kind-of make it look like a Gundam. It’s giving me the same vibes as the G-Bull from Gundam Thunderbolt. Not having seen the short, I don’t know who this unit affiliated with, but the design is interesting regardless.
Unlike the Barbatos Adapt, no Premium Bandai exclusive kit has been announced for the Eber-G, though it shouldn’t be a tall order when they decide to release it.
As I alluded previously, I’ll be in Tokyo towards the end of next week, still within the screening period of the IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS double feature. Though I’m not sure if it would be worth catching in theaters, especially with the lack of any English subtitles.
