Quickie Comparison! Blokees Legend Series EVA-01: “Neon Genesis Evangelion” & “Rebuild of Evangelion” Versions

Some weeks ago, Blokees announced a Legend Series Evangelion Unit-01 kit based on the TV or Neon Genesis Evangelion version. We’ve been inundated with the Rebuild of Evangelion version through multiple kits and figures that you can’t help to look for a good representation of the TV version. I am aware of the Kotobukiya release but it just dosen’t capture the look that we saw in the original TV series.

Many were asking how the Neon Genesis and Rebuiid versions of the Blokees kit would compare with each other and fortunately we don’t need online reviews for such comparison as seen below.

As seen here, the TV version isn’t just a quick recolor of any exising Rebuild kit and keen eyes would see the differences besides the obvious proportion changes. Most notable are, of course, the much wider pectoral region that gave the EVA its menacing silhouette, especially when compared to the more “humanized” take from the Rebuild films.

Here are the three-quarter views, and the rear view for more comparisons.

Many have also asked how these kits would fare against Bandai Spirits’ Real Grade version and we have a close to good comparison between it and the Blokees’ currently available Action Edition.

If you have the Real Grade, like me, and want a more animation-aligned version of the EVA-01, then you can’t go wrong with the Blokees version. They are more or less the same height and would display well with each other. It shouldn’t be much of a question for me to get one, especially with the TV version getting a release as well.
