And Now There’s Eight: “Transformers: Age of the Primes” New Reveals

While images were leaked by an Amazon listing just a day before, Hasbro held a live stream to officially reveal the final wave of Transformers: Age of the Primes figures for 2025. And if you’re collecting all the Primes, which is totally the intent of this line, then we’re now halfway there.

It’s not that long ago that we got Alpha Trion figures: with the Legacy “A Hero is Born” two-pack a couple of years ago, and more recently with Transformers One. 2026 will see the Transformers One version get the Studio Series treatment though leaks, and now, we are getting a more classic take with the G1-inspired Age of the Primes version.

Age of the Primes Alpha Trion takes a Cybertronnian hovercraft vehicle mode, which is quite consistent with his similar form for the “A Hero is Born” two-pack, though that’s more because he’s a Scourge retool.

Each Prime comes with a specific artifact, and Alpha Trion has the Covenant of Primus, represented as a red translucent plastic boos with Cybertronnian inscriptions printed, and can be held by other figures via a 5mm peg. He also comes with a quill to write on the Covenant…

… and as a bladed weapon of sorts. Complementing this melee weapon is his backpack piece that can double as a shield for defense.

Lastly, the Autobot sigil on Alpha Trion’s torso is removable and ha can hold it for some reason. Given that the Primes were around the time where factions didn’t exist, Alpha Trion might be one of the last ones to live, and then there’s Star Optimus Prime.

Next up is Onyx Prime and for those unfamiliar, Onyx is the progenitor of all Transformers with animal-based alternate forms or beast modes. In addition, the Age of the Primes version is also a triple changer, converting from a bipedal/humanoid primary form, to a six-legged beast form…

… to a four-legged centaur form in between. This Leader-class figure comes with the Triptych Mask as artifact and can be attached to its spear. Likewise, its tail in beast mode can also become a bow that can then be used with the same spear. I believe this is the first time we are getting Onyx Prime in plastic form, whether licensed or unlicensed, so this is one of those must-haves figures in your collection.

Last on this list, and the last Prime for the year is Micronus Prime, the progenitor of the Minicons and other small formfactor Transformers like Targetmasters. His design is primarily based on his appearance in Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) where he played a more prominent role.

To make a rather small figure make more sense, and fit better, within the Deluxe-class price point, Micronus uses a mech suit to interact. It has a regular humanoid form and can transform into a single-wheeled transport vehicle he can ride on. That’s not saying Micronus Prime can’t transform since he does convert into his own artifact, the Chimera Stone.

Subsequently, the Chimera Stone is shaped like the Minicon sigil first introduced in Transformers: Armada. In any case, this is a clever way to put Micronus in the Deluxe-class price point despite the his inherently small stature.

It’s not that long ago when I got my first wave of Age of the Primes figures, and I really like what Hasbro has done with The Thirteen so far. Sure, they’re not perfect, but at least we’re finally getting all of them. This might be the most I’ll be getting out of a three-year Transformers block.
