Wallet Death in 2025: “Transformers: Age of the Primes” Official Reveals

I’m primarily an Optimus Prime, and Prime-adjacent, collector when it comes to Transformers. We have been getting a lot of Optimus Prime figures recently thanks to 2024 being an anniversary year. But with Transformers: Age of the Primes officially launching in 2025, it looks like my budget will shift to include more Prime-adjacent characters. Regardless, it will be an expensive year, especially with these guys being confirmed for next year.

Star Optimus Prime (Titan-class)

Star Optimus Prime is the official English interpretation of Star Convoy from Transformers: The Battlestars and is arguably the most powerful form of the original G1 version of the character. Some also suggest that this would be the original version of Optimus Prime as part of The Thirteen before he was reincarnated into his regular G1 version in modern times.

The design of this 15-inch Titan-class figure follows the original closely, but of course minus the electronics and plus all the articulation expected for a collector-oriented figure. It also has the bells, whistles, and gimmicks that the original had.

Chief among these is the inclusion of a base/battle station mode and while I’m not exactly a fan of these, I’m pretty sure collectors who had the original will appreciate this feature.

Another gimmick carried from the original toy is the inclusion of a small Hot Rod figure, which they’re refering to now as a Micromaster. It’s fully articulated and can also transform into a vehicle mode very similar to how it appeared in the original series.

Micromaster Hot Rod can also fit inside the MT-13 Microtrailer that acts as a carrier vehicle and weapons platform Hot Rod can use.

Finally, Hot Rod can also fit inside the chest cavity of Star Optimus Prime for one reason or another. Regardless, it’s yet another play pattern for this massive figure.

It wasn’t that too long ago that we got a modern Star Convoy figure which was a retool of the Power of the Primes “Evolution” Optimus Prime figure, so it’s sort of fitting that we’re getting another one in another Prime-centric line. And while I’m also not the biggest fan of Titan-class figures, due to their sheer size, I can make an exception for this guy.

Prima Prime (Voyager-class)

Following off-color and headless leaks some weeks back, we finally have the official reveal of Prima Prime, the first of The Thirteen, and arguably the first official figure of the character. I do prefer his look in The Covenant of Primus book but this looks alright as well. Prima Prime transforms into an abstract six-wheeler vehicle which really reminds me of Lunar Cruiser Prime due to their similar silhouettes.

Prima Prime comes with a couple of legendary artifacts from the Transformers mythos, these include the Star Saber Sword and the Matrix of Leadership. You can then attach the Matrix to the hilt of the Star Saber.

Oh, and now that I look at this design, the argument that the core robot of Mastermind Creations’ Seraphicus Prominon (LINK: #4003A / Reformatted / Seraphicus Prominon [Core] (Prima)) makes more sense.

Solus Prime (Deluxe-class)

Another character getting an official figure for the first time is Solus Prime and many are quite aware of her rather tragic backstory, at least for her other incarnations. I assume she still plays the role of the Prime whose able to create and forge any device, or weapon, with the aptly named Forge of Solus Prime. She also transforms to a non-descript vehicle form that you can attach the Forge onto.

Reinforcing the feminine silhouette is the inclusion of a long front skirting armor which doesn’t seem to impede articulation. On that note, she’s able to hold the Forge with one or two hands, creating more posing options.

Megatronus the Fallen (Leader-class)

Capping off this wave of announcements is Megatronus, the Fallen whose design was primarily based on the IDW comic books albeit a few liberties here and there. He’s most recognizable for the black and purple colors with orange flames acting as highlights. As fitting of such character, he transforms into a hover tank with all the flames still jetting out.

Outside of the live-action versions, this isn’t the first time we got an official figure of The Fallen, albeit it was part of Hasbro’s dismal attempt at a die-cast figure line with the Titanium Series.

For his legendary artifact, Megatronus wields the Requiem Blaster, forged by Solus Prime herself. He also uses a staff mace and a blade that can also combine together. By the way, I believe the flame effect parts are also removable and I hope they won’t easily degrade over time.

Counting Star Optimus Prime, that’s 4 of the thirteen, which means we still have 9 spread across the two or so remaining years of this toyline. We also got a figure of Cybertron Vector Prime recently so I’m not sure if they’ll immediately make a new version following it. It also looks like they’re still committed to releasing other-universe versions of characters as started with Legacy so it’s nice that we’re not limited to G1 versions.

Let’s end this post with a teaser for Age of the Primes as also seen Cybertron Con 2024.
