This was supposed to be a “Box Art Extravaganza” post although we’re already past mid-April and none of the upcoming mecha kits or figures this month interests me. Or so I thought as MODEROID Take-no-Yamikazuchi was just released and it has a pretty interesting packaging illustration.

Take-no-Yamikazuchi hails from the 2004 series Kannazuki no Miko or Destiny of the Shrine Maiden, which tells the story of two girls who are the reincarnation of the solar and lunar Miko (or shrine maidens) who has to fight their ancient enemies, the Orochi. For a very traditional Japanese setting, the Orochi here uses mecha, and Take-no-Yamikazuchi is the Orochi mecha that switches sides to protect our maidens.
It has mecha elements in it and more importantly, yuri. Yes, before The Witch from Mercury, there was Kannazuki no Miko.

The design is rather blocky and I won’t expect the most articulation kit based on these solicitation images, though this guy can do poses as seen from the series.

There are a couple of ways to display the kit in preparation for the Nichirin Koretsu Daigekiha attacks. First is via the forearms which can open to deploy crystals. It has smaller ones that can fit within the forearm armor but if you want anime proportions, larger ones are also included. Likewise, the chest armor can be replaced with parts to show the panels opening, just like in the anime, prior to another variant of the Nichirin Koretsu Daigekiha attack.

Lastly, and this is the only image I wanted to post originally, is the packaging which shows Take-no-Yamikazuchi standing prominently at the center, though if you gaze to the lower left side of the box, which is actually the left side flap, you can see our two shrine maidens being passionate with each other.

I’m not sure if I’ll get this kit, but I’ll be monitoring its stock status every now and then.
