More 40th Anniversary Collaborations: Transformers ✕ Bingo Sports

While everyone was looking at the newly announced Masterpiece figures, Takara Tomy also dropped another Transformers collaboration project as part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

Bingo Sports, a Japanese premium car services company, is collaborating with the Transformers brand to enter a Transformers-themed Corvette C7 GT3-R in the Japan Cup, or the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS.

The spoiler just dangling like that in robot mode looks dumb, though it does display “Bingo Sports” quite effectively.

And as if right on cue, they also announced Bingo Sports Optimus Prime, a figure based on this Corvette C7 GT3-R. Most Transformers news outlets speculate that this is going to be an extensive retool of the Studio Series 92 Crosshairs figure based on the Age of Extinction design. In fact, the Optimus Prime it transforms into is also based on the Age of Extinction design. An odd choice but okay, I guess.

Bingo Sports Optimus Prime is slated for a winter 2024 release, with preorders opening this summer. I’m not sure whether international retailers would carry this guy but if someone does, I’ll probably get one.

Thoughts?
