With only around a month before the greatest, dumbest, and probably most amusing movie of 2024, Godzilla ✕ Kong: The New Empire, is released in theaters, I decided to change the stuff on display on my office desk. I only have one figure from the Monsterverse and seldom take it out of the box outside of the mandatory inspection upon purchase.

I’m talking about the S.H.MonsterArts Mechagodzilla figure from 2021’s Godzilla VS. Kong. Yes, I do collect and have several Mechagodzilla figures. I still have some grails to obtain but I’m not exactly pressured to get them.
If there’s one thing that this version of Mechagodzilla has really going for, it is the insane amount of surface detail, and this S.H.MonsterArts release really captures those. Articulation is something I don’t really expect the most from this guy, especially with how the hip joints and those now-infamous pistons. I am aware of folks breaking those pistons and I did consider just removing them as most are recommending. But I’ve decided to be just extra careful when moving the hips and not break anything.
In any case, I might add another Mechagodzilla figure that’s been in the box for too long to this display. Let’s see.
