Stuff on the Office Desk: Still a Pain to Transform

A couple of weeks ago, I was finally able to get rubber tires for my SND-08 The One figure from, well, SND. To those unfamiliar, this is their first full transforming figure as their previous releases were mostly upgrade kits. It’s a great looking figure, in both robot and vehicle modes, but its complete reliance on plastic parts for color separation (i.e., no paint application) may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I don’t mind the look personally since I’m used to building model kits. Yes, this figure looks like an assembled model kit.

That said, what I do mind is how complicated the transformation process is. The play pattern for Transformers figures includes the robot mode, the alternate mode, and the transformation process. Unfortunately, this is where this figure stumbles upon as I don’t enjoy transforming this figure. If this is a design like the Age of Extinction Optimus Prime, then I completely understand. But for something from the IDW run of Transformers comic books, I believe they could’ve better engineered the conversion process.

It also doesn’t help that you’re handling what feels to be more delicate plastic than your usual Hasbro release. So, outside of taking photos for its eventual CATALOGUE Entry, I’ll likely keep this guy in one mode.

Thoughts?
