The next couple of posts will be some sort of Metroid-slash-Samus Aran double combo, starting with this one. As I mentioned previously, I will be going on a trip to Japan — tomorrow as of this post! Which means I won’t be in the office for a couple of weeks and normally, I should be removing any figures I currently have on display. But it just so happened that a particular figure arrived last Friday and I wanted to put that instead.

That figure would be Figma Samus Aran (Metroid Dread Ver.), a release one year in the making as solicitations and pre-orders opened in October 2022. Yes, a full year before its scheduled release. And with a price of ¥12,500, it is the most expensive among all the Figma Samus Aran releases so far.
It does have premium packaging with a sleek minimalist cardboard sleeve covering the main window box. It also comes with a magnetic display piece that allows you to stick Samus to any magnetic surface as if she’s doing some real-life platforming just like in the games. But unless you’re intending to collect all Figma Samus Aran releases or a huge Metroid fan, then this might be a little too expensive for your average Figma figure. I do already have the other Samus Aran figures so it makes sense to get this one.
