I’m still playing catch up on several Transformers figures, while getting the new ones at the same time. And for this round, we have a couple of figures I’d gladly describe as overcompensating in one way or another.

I’m targeting to collect all three Primes from Transformers: Animated, and yes, that includes Rodimus Prime who was sadly packaged as Rodimus Minor. I’ve been eyeing this sealed Sentinel Prime copy over at a local online shop for a good while before deciding to pull the trigger and get it. As expected from Animated figures, it’s able to radiate that same overcompensating energy Sentinel Prime is known for in the series.
Articulation certainly has room for improvement, especially on the shoulders, but the figure really looks the part.

Then we have Legacy: Evolution Armada Universe Optimus Prime whose very form in Super Mode is also overcompensating, but for the right reasons. This figure has been hyped from that unproduced Takara Tomy prototype back in 2019 to the leaks earlier this year. And the hype does deliver as you get one very imposing and solid figure.
That is not to say it’s perfect though as mine has an issue common to a good number of folks. The front chest panel in my copy of the core Optimus Prime robot doesn’t stay locked to the rest of the torso. This is due to how the gray torso parts that split out in Super Mode can’t hold their folded positions when in core Optimus Prime mold. You can force it by pressing on the sides of the torso with force and then close down the front chest panel. But it’s that type of connection that can easily get dislodged. But overall, it is an annoying issue, but it doesn’t prevent me from enjoying the figure, especially in Super Mode.
