It’s not DX, it’s DLX: DLX Iron Man Mark 43

threezero’s DLX line is not new, in fact they already have multiple releases, albeit limited to the Transformers franchise.

After the DLX series of Transformers: Bumblebee launched, DLX Transformers became the must-have collection among fans around the globe. The DLX line presents intricate designs in a smaller scale with high-fidelity production value. With its unique metal frame design, DLX not only provides a high range of articulation, but also greatly enhances the weight and durability. Together with the detailed paint application of threezero, a remarkable resemblance is achieved in matching the characters as seen in the original media.

These figures have garnered praise from collectors due to their sheer quality and intricate levels of details. What made me more curious is that unlike their usual 1/6 scale offerings, these DLX figures will be 1/12 scale. The same level of detail seen in larger figures will be once again available in the smaller 1/12 scale, like what Mezco Toyz is doing with their One:12 Collective line.

And with their announcement of expanding the line to include characters from Marvel Studios The Infinity Saga last October, many became excited. Before 2020 closes, threezero finally announced the first MCU character in the DLX line — DLX Iron Man Mark 43.

I’ll just let the blurb from a recent toy show explain this guy.

threezero proudly presents the DLX Iron Man Mark 43 as the first action figure in the Marvel Studios ✕ threezero “Avengers: Infinity Saga” series. This fully-articulated 1/12 scale collectible figure stands at 6.5 inches (~16.5 cm) tall and is constructed of threezero’s renown DLX die-cast system with over 48 points of articulation.

The forearms and the upper-torso are detachable to allow the Mark 43 armor to fit inside the Mark 44 “Hulkbuster” armor to be released in 2021. Attachable arm rockets can be fired onto both forearms, and two lighting functions are located on the figure; one in the chest and one in the eyes. The two air flaps on the back could be flipped open and closed.

The Avengers: Infinity Saga – 1/12 scale DLX Iron Man Mark 43 figure includes two (2) attachable arm rockets; five (5) pairs of interchangeable hands: one (1) pair of fists, one (1) pair of relaxed hands, one (1) pair of shooting hands, one (1) pair of flying hands, and one (1) pair of shooting hands (to assemble the shooting effect); two (2) pairs of effect parts: one (1) pair of shooting effects, and one (1) pair of flying effects (for the feet); and one (1) DLX action stand.

A thing to note from this blurb — we are getting a 1/12 scale DLX Iron Man Mark 44 “Hulkbuster” in 2021. So if you happen to miss either the S.H.Figuarts, MAFEX, or Comicave Studios’ Omni Class versions, then here’s another shot. As for the figure itself, it comes with multiple replacement hands, effect parts, and a display stand — standard fare for an Iron Man release.

Personally, I won’t be getting this guy as I still have the S.H.Figuarts version, and even ordered the Omni Class version along with a Mark 42 figure (don’t ask what happened to my S.H.Figuarts Mark 42). But this makes me curious of what other characters they’ll make. I’m pretty sure they’ll do what other companies have already done but if they’ll take the uncanny route and do the “House Party Protocol” armors from Iron Man 3, then I’m definitely diving in. Oh, and a proper Iron Monger as well. But for now, this is another option for those who missed the Mark 43.

Pre-orders will be going up on December 24th, 9:00 AM Hong Kong standard time
