I’m still in the process of retrieving items from my external storage unit to my hobby storage room and in the process, this allows me to showcase some figures that I’ve yet to get a chance to ‘play’ with. One of these is Sen-Ti-Nel’s RIOBOT Shiryu, NERV Anti-G Special Decisive Weapon Prototype Unit-01, such a mouthful.
I don’t collect RIOBOT figures due to a variety of reasons, including scale and most notably their cost. Though they are intended to be premium figures and Shiryu is no exception. To those unfamiliar, this was intended to be a part of a Godzilla and Evangelion collaboration back in 2017. However, new content from the Pachinko Godzilla vs. Evangelion: Second Impact G brings this guy to the forefront once again.
I have zero idea what’s going on in this multiversal crossover mayhem of destruction, but we do see Shiryu and it appears to be piloted by Kaworu Nagisa, kind of in the same vein as the Evangelion Mark.06 from the Rebuild films. Ultimately, it makes me glad to have picked this guy up when it was first released. It’s probably commanding ridiculous prices in the after-market, just like most RIOBOT figures that don’t get reissued often.
