Still catching up on some unsolicited thoughts while I was away, teasers for a couple of upcoming Gundam productions were dropped. First is a new trailer for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance and for those who doubted the production based on some initial imagery, then many of those have likely flipped their opinions as this trailer looks really good. It also depicts the Gundam as the “white devil” that terrified Zeon soldiers during the One Year War, no small thanks to the imagery on the last part of the trailer.
Speaking of the Gundam, we’ve had better renders of its design for quite a while so let’s take another look for some additional details.

I’m not entirely sure where this fits in the One Year War canon, if it fits at all. It also has EFGF, or Earth Federation Ground Forces markings on its body. Would this unit be another offshoot of the Gundam Ground Type or something entirely different? For weapons, it has the usual beam rifle and shield load out though it also appears to have a shoulder-mounted beam gatling gun and three beam saber handles, yes not just two. Lastly, it also has the “78EX” marking on its chest, which makes me think that this is some RX-78EX type of Gundam. And despite the current opinions on this design, I actually like it as it looks more of a white devil if anything.
Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is confirmed for streaming on Netflix with specific release dates yet to be announced.

The other teaser we got was in the form of a key visual for the interactive VR experience Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom. When they first teased the title and logo, I immediately thought it was, yet another story set in the One Year War with the colors used in the logo, which is similar to the Mobile Suit Gundam compilation movies. But after taking another look at the logo made me realize that the typography is actually from the English Gundam Unicorn logo.
And of course, we have the key visual of a mobile suit cockpit with panoramic monitor, which is clearly not from the One Year War so we can probably fit this somewhere in U.C. 0090s. Again, this is exclusive to Meta Quest VR, so we’ll see how this pans out. In the meantime, here’s a brief message from Kiichiro Inoue of Sunrise at Bandai Namco Filmworks about this production.
Obviously, you’d know which of these two I am looking forward to seeing. Regardless, I’m looking forward to also seeing if we’ll get Gunpla from these two productions.
