Taking the New Figure Gold Standard: Hiya Toys Exquisite Basic Rockman X

It has been a good couple of weeks since I last posted here! I came back from a nine-day Tokyo trip towards the end of November and I’ve been made aware of some announcements that happened during that time. So before I post anything regarding purchases and photos, I do want to catch on these announcements, with the first being Hiya Toys’ Exquisite Basic Megaman X / Rockman X.

Hiya Toys has been making quite the impression recently, especially to the Kaiju collector demographic, with their Godzilla-related releases. Not only are they on par with releases from Tamashii Nations, they are much more afforable in comparison. If they ever do an MFS-3 Kiryu some time in the future, then I’ll definitely pick one up since the S.H.MonsterArts version has been very hard to track. But that’s not the point of this post as we’ll check out their Megaman X / Rockman X figure over here.

Now, don’t let the “basic” in Exquisite Basic put you off as this is a fully featured action figure. Standing at 5.7 inches or around 145mm, this guy should fit most 6-inch or 1/12 scale collections. Both the details and proportions are spot on to the original since its debut back in 1993.

Complementing these details are the excellent articilation, and you are able to put Rockman X is the signature poses he’s seen in various media. It also helps that multiple replacement face parts are provided for different expressions.

To best represent the X Buster in its firing state, an LED is installed that’s activated via an included magnet in the shape of the Hiya logo badge. Tapping this magnet activates the X Buster in either flasing, pulsating, or steadily lit up modes.

In addition to the light-up X Buster, a blast effect part that you can attach is also included. The light from the X Buster also shows through this effect part for added… well… effect. The solicitations also mention the soles of the feet having magnetic parts, allowing you to stick the figure to any metallic surface. I would assume Rockman X over here is light enough that it won’t overpower those magnets.

Besides the aforementioned features and accessories, this set also comes with a dedicated display stand, along with multiple replacement hands/manipulators.

If the great things I’ve been hearing about Hiya Toys’ releases are true, then this Exquisite Basic Rockman X should be very much worth the purchase, especially at the $54 price tag it’s currently going for. Normally I’d recommend and put an affiliate link over at HobbyLink Japan if you want to get this guy, but the import costs to Japan does inflate the price so I’d suggest picking this one at the same stores you’d pick up your Marvel Legends or Transformers figures.
