Is the Sentinel Buster in the Cards? Marvel Legends Iron Man Model 72

2025 has been light for those collecting 6-inch or 1/12 scale Iron Man figures, thanks to his absence in the MCU and the lack of comic book-based figures outside of the slightly updated Extremis Iron Man and Mandarin two-pack. Come 2026 and it looks like we are getting a new comic book design with the Marvel Legends Iron Man Mark/Model 72 or the “Mysterium Armor” as it’s also known.

Tony Stark builds the Iron Man Mark 72 armor out of near-indestructible mysterium as a flight suit used to pilot a mammoth mysterium mech—the Sentinel Buster. Bring the excitement and wonder of the Marvel Universe to your collection with the Hasbro Marvel Legends Iron Man (Mark 72) Iron Man figure! This collectible 6-inch scale Marvel figure is detailed to look like the character from Marvel’s Iron Man comics. The Iron Man (Mark 72) action figure is fully articulated with premium design and poseable head, arms, and legs. This Marvel action figure set comes with 6 accessories and 2 Executioner Build-A-Figure pieces, including 2 alternate hands, 2 removable wrist attachments, and 2 repulsor blast effects. Complete the additional figure with Marvel Legends action figures Dark Avengers Spider-Man, Warbow, Werewolf By Night, Enchantress, and Phantom Rider (each sold separately, subject to availability). Hasbro Marvel action figures’ 6-inch scale make them great for posing and displaying in fans’ collections. Reimagine Marvel comics-inspired scenes on your shelf with Marvel Legends action figures and Marvel collectibles (each sold separately, subject to availability).

The armor made its debut in Invincible Iron Man (Vol. 5) #15 last year and is the core unit for the Model 73 Sentinel Buster armor. I’m not saying we’re getting a figure of the Model 73 soon, but I am hoping that we do.

As far as comic book armor designs go, the Model 72 definitely draws inspiration from its live-action movie counterparts with how the helmet looks along with a torso design common to those seen in the MCU armors. Though the touch of black is definitely an interesting design choice, providing subtlety to the usual loud and flashy color scheme.

Articulation is faily standard for an Marvel Legends Iron Man figure so you should be able to put the Model 72 in common Iron Man poses. What’s also standard are the accessories, including replacement hands and Repulsor effect parts. That said, the Model 72 also comes with a pair of forearm/wrist accessories for added firepower. As part of the Execution Build-a-Figure wave, it also comes with his head and axe.

As I alluded earlier, and even mentioned by Hasbro in the official solicitations, the Model 72 is the core unit for the Model 73 Sentinel Buster Armor. While I won’t hold my breath on a potential release, I also don’t think it’s entirely impossible. So as always, let’s see. But until then, let’s first check out the Model 72 when it drops in January.
