Speaking of Iron Man, or Iron Man-esque, here’s another quick post.
Hasbro has revealed another Marvel Legends wave, this time it’s for Hydra Stomper as it appeared in the yet-to-be released What If…? season two. I assume it was initially scheduled to be released around this time. But with Marvel Studios deciding to take a couple of steps back with their Disney+ shows, not to mention the Hollywood strikes, we still have no confirmed release date for the sophomore season. But at least we get a tease of how the new Hydra Stomper would look.

Steve Rogers in this alternate universe is basically who Buckey Barnes is to the main MCU universe — they call it Earth-616 but I still believe that’s an in-universe/multiverse designation. Either way, this means he would have to face off with his version of Captain America, Captain Carter. And this was teased at the end of season one when she discovers the old Hydra Stomper armor with someone inside.
Season two would likely start with Captain Carter forced to fight the now villainous Hydra Stomper in its new silver armored glory. It does look a rather large Iron Man Mark 2 armor, but it’s supposed to invoke the Winter Soldier’s aesthetic, except that it’s applied on the whole armor. As for the figure itself, it will be the Build-A-Figure for this wave, which is a bummer for those who don’t collect whole waves, like me. It will also come with a What If…? version of Steve Rogers’ head, meant to replace the Hydra Stomper helmet. Looks like I’ll just have to track local shops who would be assembling loose parts of this guy. The whole wave is now up for pre-order and should be available by October 2023.
