For the longest time, characters from the Japanese-exclusive Transformers series remained an untapped pool for potential figure releases. But thanks to Transformers Legacy, floodgates have been opened for these characters to get mainline releases. However, some of them are limited with the engineering allowed within the constraints of existing price points. Which is the reason Hasbro’s HasLab crowdfunding platform would be perfect for a character like Victory Saber from Transformers: Victory.
To those unfamiliar, HasLab allows the production of collectibles that might be too niche for a mainstream release but has high potential within a specific audience. HasLab also allows certain figures to be designed without the constraints of existing price points. With Victory Saber, it includes fully featured and combining figures of both Star Saber and Victory Leo. Star Saber itself is further comprised of two components. The first being Saber who comes with an even smaller Brainmaster named “Brain of Courage.”
Saber is roughly the size of a modern Deluxe Class figure, but without its limitations. That’s not saying the figure is perfect but Saber does have accurate paint application and great articulation. It also modernizes all the features the original figure had, including the Brainmaster gimmick which now doesn’t hinder head articulation though it’s limited to side-to-side rotation. But otherwise, you’re able to put Saber in a wide array of poses. Saber can also use a couple of accessories, including its rifle called the Saber Laser, and the nosecone of its vehicle mode which can connect on its left shoulder just like the original figure. As mentioned, Saber retains the Brainmaster feature with “Brain of Courage” who is smaller than Titan Masters or Prime Masters from previous lines. It can fit in the chest of Saber, again like the original, but the feature works differently to allow head articulation for Saber. “Brain of Courage” can also fit in the cockpit of Saber in vehicle mode called the Victory Jet.
