To those unfamiliar, for one reason or another, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to end Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the first third of The Multiverse Saga. While many consider Phase 4 to be subpar when compared to previous installments, it does a respectable job in introducing a whole slew of new characters who’d eventually become a staple in future stories of this saga. One of them is Riri Williams who’s making her debut in Wakanda Forever as Ironheart, the armored hero set to continue Tony Stark’s legacy. For the longest time, I was curious on how they’re going to approach her armor design and fortunately, we didn’t have to wait for long as Hasbro got us covered with this deluxe Marvel Legends release of Ironheart Mark 2.
Though it’s a deluxe release, I didn’t have the highest of expectations. But I did hope for a better figure than your standard Marvel Legends. And to some extent, it is. For starters, details and proportions are great, though some might say the leg units are quite long – which I’ll charge to the design rather than the action figure. The paint application is decent as while Ironheart Mark 2 looks great when viewed from the front, all the paint budget cuts become visible at the back. Most notable are the mechanical details on the thruster pods which are just in the same red plastic as the rest, at least the thrusters use different plastic. Overall articulation is also decent but could be better. The same thruster pods can restrict shoulder and arm movement while the extended forearm armor makes Repulsor-firing poses a little awkward. The set also comes with a couple of accessories outside of blast and effect parts. These include a replacement forearm cannon and an unmasked Riri Williams head which, in my opinion, has a good semblance to the actor playing her.
