I have built my Iron Man armor collection by primarily getting S.H.Figuarts and Marvel Legends figures, with some Omni Class from Comicave Studios. That said, I’ve always paid attention to Mezco Toys’ One:12 Collective line. Dubbed as the Hot Toys for 1/12 scale collectors, these have realistic levels of detail with great articulation. So, when they announced their take on the classic Iron Man armor, I immediately jumped the gun and grabbed one. Opening the sleek packaging and lifting the hefty figure from the plastic tray, you could immediately justify its $100 price tag.
Like their previous releases, Mezco Toyz took liberties with the classic Iron Man Model 4 design, reinforcing the armored look through prominent panels and rivets. Though unlike their previous releases, Iron Man doesn’t have soft goods clothing, restricting the articulation less. Which perfectly segue ways to the articulation as Iron Man has all the essentials and is easily comparable to S.H.Figuarts. The only limitations are the sideways movement of the ankle joints. It also features a removable visor held by magnets to reveal Tony Stark, though I’ll probably keep it attached. More importantly, the Arc Reactor lights up, with included batteries to boot. Lastly, Iron Man comes with a plethora of blast and thruster effects, and additional parts to deploy its various weapons.
