BLOG: Today’s Robits – April 2017
|This is Today’s Robits – posts that showcase CATALOGUE-related acquisitions for the entire duration of the covered period. In other words, it’s all about this month’s hobby loot.
Finally getting back to the monthly post schedule, at least for today. And it’s almost the end of May, the perfect time to cover the acquired robits for April… just because.
Here’s an ambitious project, got two copies of each kit shown here to build the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie [Hikaru Ichijo] in all three modes — Fighter, Gerwalk, and Battroid. Wave made these kits so the build isn’t as straight forward as a typical Bandai kit, challenge accepted.
|While Bandai is still struggling with their mecha-musume model kits, Kotobukiya is doing well. So well that they’ve introduced a second line called Megami Device. Not really sure how they differ from Frame Arms Girls in terms of concept but the aesthetic differences are definitely there.
The next kit is a very appreciated option for those who find the 1/35 Mechatro WeGo kits and figures a tad too small. Being a model kit also meant that it’s cheaper and has easy customization options, especially in the color scheme. Still thinking of one though (HINT: looking at Google).
|The TRANSFORMERS Legends line has been doing some amazing callbacks to previous fiction and figures. Such is the case for this version of Optimus Primal (or Convobat in Japan). Using the Titans Return Mindwipe mold, this homages the original Optimus Primal (Prime back then) bat design for Beast Wars. It don’t stop there as it also includes the Apeface drone in Optimal Optimus colors, and a headmaster to reproduce ‘Alligator Megatron’ when combined with Titans Return Skullcruncher.
Also got the Soul of Chogokin 20th Anniversary Official Book because it has beautiful robot pictures inside.
