BLOG: Box Art Extravaganza Vierzehn

Box Art Extravaganza Vierzehn March 2017 is going to be quite a busy month for Bandai Hobby thanks to their slew of new releases and reissues. As far as box arts are concerned, and because this blog knows its priorities in packaging, some were already covered so to finish the list, here’s another round of packing art appreciation.

The original HGBF Super Fumina kit isn’t exactly the best out there when it comes to mecha musume releases, Kotobukiys clearly has the better ones in comparison. Yet Bandai never gives up and has produced multiple variants, two being Premium Bandai exclusives and now this. Its design is sort of a hybrid between a nurse uniform and the Qubeley from Mobile Suit Z Gundam, not to mention that this is the first Super Fumina design to have an exposed cleavage. Yep.

Box Art Extravaganza Vierzehn Whenever Bandai releases these Astray kits, they often go the similar pattern of the Red Frame first and followed by the Blue Frame, or any of the latter’s variants. So it’s sort of surprising that Bandai went on with the Gold Frame Amatsu Mina, at least for the regular releases as the vanilla Blue Frame did came as an online exclusive.

Colored prototypes have shown that like the High Grade, it won’t come with gold plated plastic though the same kit did come with very glossy black plastic. The Real Grade version will do things differently as it will do different ‘shades’ of black as glossy and gray bits.

Initially had this kit on pre-order but eventually cancelled due to lack of full interest.

Box Art Extravaganza Vierzehn Finally is the kit that proves that Bandai can pretty much release a variant of a previously released kit and just slap ‘Amazing’ somewhere on its name. It is a good design though the red internal frame doesn’t really do well with this collector though it does go with the whole “Crimson Comet” moniker of Meijin Kawaguchi.

Planning on building this kit along with the HGCE Strike Freedom Gundam (whenever that happens) and thinking of definitely doing away with the red internal frame by making it gray or gold then have the light gray bits be replaced with red. Still tinkering with the color scheme but that is the general idea.
