BLOG: Today’s Robits – Fourth Quarter 2016
|This is Today’s Robits – posts that showcase CATALOGUE-related acquisitions for the entire duration of the covered period. In other words, it’s all about this
Wasn’t really able to track the monthy robits for the tail-end of the year and as such, here they are in a single post.
After a year of hemming and hawing (and watching Mandarake), finally caved in and got the Tamashii Nations version of the Hulkbuster. Also got Comicave Studios version of the Silver Centurion. Both are in scale with each other, have die cast parts and offer LED light up functions.
|Here’s an item that deserves a solo spot in this post. This collector has always been transparent in choosing Gunpla when both it and a ROBOT Damashii figure is available for a particular mobile suit. But there are times when rules are bent and exceptions are made, and this is one such time.
After failing on the debut METAL ROBOT Damashii release (i.e. Hi-Nu Gundam), Tamashii Nations did a great job in making the Ex-S Gundam as the follow up. Adding the cherry on top is the touches from Hajime Katoki as this one is also under the Ka Signature banner. This is much superior to the HGUC release with the metal parts and amazing articulation that only this figure of the mobile suit has.
|And of course, let’s not forget about the model kits starting with these two.
The Super MiniPla Xabungle build is currently on break, but targeting to resume this January. That little update was necessary as the next kit from the line is here, and it comes in this snazzy packaging with great box art. It’s probably because this is the ‘Be Invoked’ set which includes additional parts. And like Xabungle, two copies were purchased for both the combined and individual modes.
Next is Wave’s individual release of the 1/35 Scopedog Turbo Custom kit. Only one unit is included and parts from the other configurations are available to be switched and swapped.
|This came a little late but the hype train is definitely here with the HG IBO Gundam Barbatos Lupus. That said, this build will have to wait as there’s still a couple of Gundam Barbatos kits that needs building (looking at the other forms, ugh). Good thing Bandai didn’t do the multiple forms thing for the second season and based on the recent episode, it looks like a mid-season upgrade may be in the works?
Oh and the option set is here as well, yey for more weapons.
|Also much delayed are these two, both coming from the Gundam Build Fighters Try ISLAND WARS special last July.
As mentioned months back, the orange color scheme will be replaced by dark blue just because.
And here’s a confession, haven’t built the Lightning Gundam or any of its back weapon systems so there will most likely be an ‘all-Lightning Gundam build’ to cover the base mobile suit and the three support units as of yet.
