BLOG: Today’s Robits – November & December 2014

Today's Robits - November-December 2014 This is Today’s Robits – posts that showcase CATALOGUE-related acquisitions for the entire duration of the covered period. In other words, it’s all about this month’s hobby loot.

It’s becoming quite a tradition to start these robit posts with stuff other than robits, so let’s go with that.

Aside from the usual awesomeness with every new Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN volume, the other item here came from Japan as a Christmas gift. Sold as an exclusive to the Akihabara branch of the Gundam Cafe is this cute piece of ceramic designed after Beargguy III from Gundam Build Fighters. LOL Teddy in Melancholy.

  • Gundam Cafe (Akihabara Exclusive) – Beargguy III Mug

Today's Robits - November-December 2014 Here’s a dosage of the more usual stuff, one coming from a new series while the other serving as an end cap to another… sort of.

Hailing from GUNDAM Reconguista in G is the Gundam G-Self in all of its controversial design glory. Yes its all curves and UV reactive bits, but it definitely looks new. This mobile suit is also one of those clearly designed for merchandise thanks to the multiple packs (i.e. more kits).

Then there’s Gundam Amazing Exia here which looks like the recolor of the earlier released Gundam Exia Dark Matter when it was the opposite in the show. Bandai is even doing the same release pattern with the Master Grade. They really want to sell that recolor don’t they?

  • HG 1/144 | YG-111 GUNDAM G-SELF
  • HGBF 1/144 | PPGN-001 GUNDAM AMAZING EXIA
Today's Robits - November-December 2014 Now moving from model kits to action figures with these couple of robits.

Despite concluding the franchise with Danball Senki Wars, Bandai is still able to release LBX kits thanks to variants and game exclusives. Such example is the LBX Achilles II which is supposedly the direct upgrade of the Achilles used by an older Ban Yamano. Guess this is stronger than every other LBX that he handled throughout the fiction?

Completing the trifecta of GaoGaiGar Super Robot Chogokin releases is GaoFighGar, which was initially revealed like two years ago. Now would be a perfect time to make CATALOGUE Entries for the three.

  • DANBALL SENKI | LBX ACHILLES II
  • SUPER ROBOT CHOGOKIN | GAOFIGHGAR
Today's Robits - November-December 2014 Nowadays, Optimus Prime has been transforming into a bunch of stuff. From a Be@rbrick, to cap, to ballpen, and even an original Sony PlayStation console! But of all the weird stuff that Optimus Prime turns into, this came first, and somewhat retroactively set the precedent for his transformations today.

Coming from the now-defunct TRANSFORMERS Sports Label line is Optimus Prime feat. Nike Free 7.0, yes he transforms into a shoe of all things. He should probably hang out with mister Basquash over here and play hoops or something.

  • TRANSFORMERS Spors Label | OPTIMUS PRIME feat. NIKE FREE 7.0
Today's Robits - November-December 2014 Who better close off the last loot of 2014 than Tony Stark himself! Or at least three of his Iron Man armors.

Bandai and Max Factory got to show who’s the better armor maker by releasing two loosely-sequential Iron Man armors around the same time. Each has its own pros and cons though it would’ve been better of both scaled the same. And by the way, also got the S.H.Figuarts bonus sofa set. It makes for a very awesome display accessory.

Also got the Marvel Legends Iron Man Model I, dubbed as the ‘First Appearance’ Iron Man. It’s amazing how the design evolved from the clunky-looking armor to the sleek ones of today.

  • FIGMA | IRON MAN MARK VII
  • S.H.FIGUARTS | IRON MAN MARK XLII
  • MARVEL LEGENDS | IRON MAN MODEL I
