BLOG: Today’s Robits – April & May 2014
|This is Today’s Robits – posts that showcase CATALOGUE-related acquisitions for the entire duration of the covered period. In other words, it’s all about this month’s hobby loot.
After cutting down on some procrastination, here are two months worth of robit acquisition.
Kicking this long list are of course, books. The Covenant of Primus is the one stop for those who wanted to know how the new ‘Aligned Continuity’ came to be leading to the events of TRANSFORMERS Prime.
The great guys at Vertical Inc., are still doing an awesome job with their Gundam THE ORIGIN English releases and this volume is no exception.
|Looks like this guy is finally getting replacements, three to be exact.
These three were acquired as an attempt to reboot and complete the Evangelion representation in the CATALOGUE. With the multitude of EVANGELION-01 figures that Kaiyodo dished out, these are probably the three essential to the collection. One representation for the TV (Neon Genesis Evangelion), light novel (Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA), and the new movies (Rebuild of Evangelion).
And with these, only one remains, for now.
|Like it or not, Revoltech is good in completing the lineup of figures from a certain franchise. That goes for Evangelion as seen earlier, the four iterations of Gurren Lagann (as the others tend to focus on the first), and finally, the multiple incarnations of the lead Getter machines.
These two were earlier releases and thus, were harder to come by. Fortunately, someone from a local Revoltech collectors group was downsizing his collection and is willing to part with these two.
With these, all that remains is Getter Arc. But then again there’s Dino Getter 1 which is kind of exclusive to Sen-Ti-Nel.
|Here’s the start of what seems to be one deranged (and possibly expensive plan). For all this time, the Extreme Gundam Option Set has been quite elusive. But again, someone from a local ROBOT Damashii collectors group is willing to part with an unopened set at very reasonable prices.
Got that one and thought of making each mode of the Extreme Gundam (type-Leos) its own figure which would mean another option set and two more Extreme Gundam figures. Thankfully there’s Mandarake.
Oh and ROBOT Damashii Vifam also arrived.
|Going to more familiar territory, here are two more entries in the HG All Gundam Project. Heero Yuy’s mid-season upgrade is finally available as a modern High Grade kit with the HGAC Wing Gundam Zero. And if the Wing Gundam was of any indication, this looks like a fun build as well.
Making the HGCE debut in the HGUC ‘numbering system’ is the HGCE Aile Strike Gundam. Not really sure if this was planned first or the Build Strike Gundam but either way, both kits share the same engineering so there shouldn’t be any surprises. Hopefully Bandai continues on this subline as the SEED kits really needed some modern updates.
|Closing this batch are these two. Because Unicorn MSV stuff are always awesome, here’s the HGUC Silver Bullet which appeared in the final episode of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn despite getting quickly trashed by the Neo Zeong.
On the other side of the spectrum is probably one of the better molds coming out of the TRANSFORMERS Age of Extinction Generations line. This is the Generation One Optimus Prime that many wanted when the live-action movies came, though it only took seven years to actually happen.
Still needing a representation of Optimus Prime’s new form though.
