BLOG: Today’s Robits – November 2013
|This is Today’s Robits – posts that showcase CATALOGUE-related acquisitions for the entire duration of the covered period. In other words, it’s all about this month’s hobby loot.
Happy Holidays to everyone! And what better way to celebrate than to showcase the robits that came from the previous month! Yes.
So after hunting for quite some time, this collector has finally gotten these two thanks to AmiAmi’s Pre-Owned Items catalog. Probably due to their design and earlier release schedule, these lead machines from Fafner in the Azure were hard to come by.
|The next two items can be best as the ‘hemming and hawing’ kind of purchases.Wasn’t really planning to get the ROBOT Damashii Gundam Mk-V if only for a pre-order on a local hobby shop for the ‘Amuro Ray Colors’ variant that didn’t get a release. So they instead got the regular version which is still a great exclusive nonetheless.
On the other hand, this FJ Optimus Prime figure/kit is a matter of getting whether to another copy. With a complex transformation using fragile parts, it’s best to get two copies of the figure and be built permanently in robot and alternate modes.
|As evidenced by this Plastic Crack post, it took quite a while before the second wave of Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures came to local toy stores. It also didn’t help that everyone was eyeing on Metalhead over here. Didn’t waste any time from seeing the item on the shelf to picking it up and making the payment.
Speaking of taking forever, it took Bandai like 17 years to finally release a modern kit of the quite-popular Gundam Double X in 1/144 scale. As the second entry in the HG All Gundam Project, some reviews suggest that it’s inferior to the earlier HGAC Wing Gundam kit. Regardless, this release is very much appreciated.
|With this collector’s Mazinkaiser chillin’ out on the HLJ Private Warehouse, it is only natural to also get its predecessor, and the first figure in the line – Mazinger Z.This is the rerelease version that comes in the new packaging design and is much thinner.
The next two were purchased in the dealer floor of Anime Festival Asia 2013. Completing the duo of lead machines form the Genesis of Aquarion and Aquarion EVOL is Solar Aquarion. Following it is the next Brave Series machine outside of GaoGaiGar, J-Decker.
Still waiting for that Fighbird release Bandai!
|Capping off this batch is Striker Eureka, the Mark 5 Jaeger from PACIFIC RIM and was also purchased in Singapore. Like most retailers outside the United States, this guy came with in a bundle with another figure — Battle Damaged Gipsy Danger which has the swords. Unfortunately it’s not compatible with the first release.
Anyway, that makes it two Jaegers for the CATALOGUE though this collector isn’t planning to get all only needs Coyote Tango from wave 3 to complete the collection.
